The Synthesis Workshop / Spring 2021 will take place on Zoom on April 15th, 2021 between 9:00 - 1:30 PDT. Synthesis Workshops are designed to help our clients achieve their business goals with Synthesis, our social intranet platform for architecture and engineering firms. 

This half-day workshop will offer general sessions as well as breakouts. The event is designed to be modular, so you can identify and join for the topics that are more important to you. 

As always, this will be a great opportunity to share knowledge, develop ideas, and build relationships with other clients in the KA Advance community.

An introduction to the workshop and opportunity to connect with 3-4 workshop attendees.

9:30 - 10:40 AM
Hangout: Cultivating Workplace Community
In this hangout we’ll spend time exploring the following question: “How do we cultivate a sense of belonging for new and long term employees in a hybrid workplace?”

You’ll have an opportunity to first reflect on how your organization’s approach and then explore this topic with 4-5 AEC intranet champions from different organizations. We’ll end the session together to identify takeaways and highlight insights.

Synthesis Spotlight on Fostering Community
In this session you’ll hear from intranet champions who are using their Synthesis intranet to foster community in a variety of ways. You’ll get to learn about their context, see their work, and ask questions.

Synthesis Workshop / Chicago 2019

The Synthesis Workshop / Chicago 2019 will take place at the Virgin Hotel in Chicago on October 23rd and 24th, 2019. Synthesis Workshops are designed to help our clients achieve their business goals with Synthesis, our social intranet platform for architecture and engineering firms. 

This two-day workshop will offer general sessions on topics interesting to everyone, as well as multiple individual tracks more suited to niche audiences. As always, this will be a great opportunity to share knowledge, develop ideas, and build relationships with other clients in the KA Advance community.

What enables growth and change at work? You’ll spend the first part of the day digging into this question with an interactive exercise.

10 - 11 AM
Keynote: What does it take to lead and manage change?
Rose Hollister, Northwestern professor, Harvard Business Review writer and former Fortune 500 executive, will discuss the key elements of successful change projects. You’ll leave with a better understanding of common barriers to organizational change and strategies for navigating change more effectively.

11 AM - 12:30 PM
Interactive Exercise: Leading + Managing Change
Rose will lead us through an interactive exercise featuring real-world change scenarios from our client community. You’ll have the opportunity to collaboratively debate approaches, identify potential actions, and explore tactics to successfully address the challenges and opportunities presented in each case study.

The workshop will combine a mix of interactive working groups, one-on-one sharing, and informal networking to help attendees share knowledge, develop ideas, and build relationships with other clients in the KA Advance community.

Austin Central Library Tour
The Austin Central Library opened in 2017, the books—500,000 in total—are just the beginning of the story. There’s also an art gallery, an event space, a rooftop butterfly garden, a series of group-study rooms, a café (featuring several cookbook-inspired meals) and a “technology petting zoo,” which enables visitors to toy with next-generation gadgets, like a 3-D printer. The building itself—which centers around a six-story, sun-drenched atrium—is cutting-edge too. In July, it earned a Platinum LEED certification for its sustainable design, which includes a bicycle-repair and parking garage and a cistern on the roof that pipes rainwater to the bathrooms.
