Nuri Miller + Jonathan Kanda
CO Architects
Talk Description
As the requirements of specialized building types become increasingly more complex, clients continue to demand design professionals with focused expertise, innovation, and "thought leadership." This high-value knowledge, gained over years of experience, is often held by a small number of firm specialists, and not readily disseminated to a broader group, both internally and externally. Can technology help capture this deep knowledge, but also be used to convey and make this expertise accessible? To that end, CO Architects has developed a programming engine/dashboard tool that codifies its expertise in medical education and research facility design, automates the program development process, creates a repository of project data, and provides comparative program performance. This session will explore the in-house development of the dashboard tool and discuss its early benefits to the practice, project, and clients.
